People Power – sharing skills for inclusion

Children’s Quarter is a cooperative alliance that brings people together… as staff, volunteers, parents and carers, trustees, funders, researchers and policy-makers, children and young people. We all have skills, ideas, experience and passion that translate – through the groups and organisations that make up the CQ Co-op and the services we run – into social inclusion.  A more socially inclusive future depends on services and campaigns that challenge exclusion and spread more inclusive approaches. At the heart of those services and campaigns – our most precious resource? People.

This event – People Power – is about making more of the resource that People represent: through, for example: skills-sharing and development; shared and peer learning; pooled teams and secondments; enabling volunteers and students; and using time as a kind of currency.   The event is part of CQ’s Learn for Real series of networking events – at which Members pool their experience to make new co-operative approaches.  We will be aiming to get projects and ideas presented and developed at People Power funded and running during 2022. So please bring – and share – your ideas and good practice!

Members and their guests are welcome to join People Power – a CQ Learn for Real event at Thinktank – Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham on Thursday 20 January 10-11.30pm.  New CQ supporters, Birmingham Museums Trust  are our hosts and will be sharing information about their approach to community engagement and inclusion.  We also hope to be joined by guests from CQ supporters, Birmingham City University.
